BBC Radio Manchester's popular Saturday morning show, 'Becky's Retail Therapy' interviewed Silkmoth's Keith Jones today. Broadcasting from the Arndale Centre in the heart of Manchester, host Becky Want quizzed Keith on whether consumers can trust online shopping.
"It's easy for people to check whether a web site is trustworthy", said Keith. "At the point where they're asked for their credit cards details, they should see a small padlock icon in the browser. That indicates it's a secure site. The risks to the consumer are really quite small, and probably less than when you use your credit card in a restaurant."
"But you would say that, wouldn't you, said Becky Want, "you're building all these online retail sites!"
"Well, yes," Keith replied, "because at Silkmoth we're interested in getting people to set up their online business properly, and building trusted relationships with their customers."
Many businesses fail to give consumers a trustworthy online experience, explained Keith, "and then they lose potential customers, just when they're on the point of making a purchase".
But it's possible for even the smallest business to trade online successfully. "As long as they get proper advice, from a company such as Silkmoth, they'll be able to reach customers online much faster and more cheaply than if they set up in the High Street".

Keith Jones was invited onto the breakfast news programme at Channel M this morning, as an expert in the Manchester area on all things internet.
Quizzed by the hosts about recent news stories concerning the internet, such as the BBC being accused by ISPs of overloading the web with their iPlayer, Keith explained the successful role that the internet can play in business.
"The internet has become a vital part of all of our lives," said Keith, "and all businesses, large or small, should now be making use of the web."
"But the web can be a hostile place, where there's a lot of competition, so you need to make sure you get good advice from a company such as Silkmoth, to ensure that your web site presents your business effectively."
