Silkmoth is delighted to announce that it has won the contract to upgrade the website for one of the world's major manufacturers and distributors of high quality ceramic tableware and related products. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, Churchill China supplies a wide range of ceramic tableware to customers in hospitality and home markets around the world through an extensive network of retailers, agents and distributors. The products vary from simple white plates to specialist products for ethnic restaurants. The Retail division, which supplies products for use in the home, provides not only traditional prints and classic English design, but also a collectable range and high fashion products to meet today's changing lifestyles.
The site that Silkmoth is in the process of developing will enable Churchill to easily and simply create and maintain web site content using their innovative WireNet™ technology. The site will enhance the already successful email marketing developed by Churchill. Staff at the company will be able to create and manage the content to support the latest email campaigns. The information gathered through email enquiries, feedback forms and product enquiry forms will be capable of being imported into their own back office systems. Silkmoth will of course be providing their usual site management and performance service which provides information that is sufficiently detailed and correctly filtered to give realistic data about visitors to the web site.
Churchill were particularly keen to work with a web development company that provides a high level of support as well as technical expertise. Silkmoth demonstrated to them that it is such a company. The staff at Silkmoth are also looking forward to working closely with their Stockport based partner Promedia who will be providing the graphic designs for the project.

Mybiggerpicture.com had a list of over a 1000 photographers interested in selling their products to their own clients. They wanted to enable this potential market to access an offshoot of the existing site and place orders using a different pricing model to the existing one. This new arm of the site had to be capable of uploading high resolution images, keep track of orders and allow online payment through WorldPay.
The brief resulted in the development of www.mybiggerphoto.com. The new site enables photographers to buy samples of the www.mybiggerpicture.com products to show as examples to their own customers at trade prices. The site has a shopping basket and clear instructions on how to purchase using the customers own images. They can then review their shopping basket and checkout.
The new trade site makes orders easy to administer. The company can now add new users, update information and delete users. The order history can also be reviewed for each user. Invoices can be created and printed out from the website. Statistics of user behaviour and order history are also available from the administration area.
The site has been up and running for four months and hundreds of photographers have already registered and placed orders. Carl Dean, Technical Director of Silkmoth said "this site is an example of how a simple low cost extension can increase your business."

The Spinal Foundation has been pioneering minimally invasive back surgery since 1990 and is a non-profit making charity. The skilled doctors draw on years of experience and offer revolutionary keyhole spinal surgery. They needed a web site that attracted interest in the techniques and informed potential recipients of what was available to them. The site content had to include easy reading medical facts and reassurance that the procedures are safe and relatively pain free. Ultimately the Foundation wants to increase the number of people who are prepared to undertake the revolutionary surgery.
The new web site www.spinal-foundation.org was developed in only two weeks, particularly impressive as on average a typical Silkmoth web site usually takes 6-8 weeks. The commitment of the Silkmoth staff was matched by the timely arrival of over 100 pages of written content from the Spinal Foundation. The site includes detailed information for patients on various spine disorders, how key hole surgery works and the principle and advantages of keeping patients awake during the procedure. It also includes a comprehensive frequently asked questions section.
The new Silkmoth site enables Spinal Foundation staff to create and maintain new web site content. They have been trained to do this by utilising the WireNet™ Content Management System developed by Silkmoth and now used by a large number of their customers. The organisation will be able to update the site with news stories, case studies and patient testimonials.
Silkmoth's role as a web partner will be to provide ongoing help and support and technical expertise by establishing and maintaining a web site that competes well in the market place, achieves good search engine visibility and provides a compelling call to action for the chronic back ache sufferer.

Silkmoth has just launched its latest website www.tyre-shopper.co.uk. The site is simplicity itself. The customer simply types in their car registration number and a selection of tyres suitable for their vehicle appears on the screen. Prices range from £25 to £400+ depending on the make and model of the car.
Most people have got no idea what their tyre sizes are or indeed how to read them. In order to make buying a tyre simple even for the most automotively challenged person, Silkmoth had to combine a number of different technologies. The car registration details of over 95% of cars have been mapped to a range of tyres to fit that particular make and model of car. The tyres are listed in price order so there is something to suit every budget.
Carl Dean, Technical Director at Silkmoth said:
"Information provided by the DVLA and tyre companies has been brought together for the first time. Customers can be confident that they are choosing the correct tyres at best value prices."
The innovative technology that has revolutionised tyre buying does not stop there. Once the customer has decided which type of tyre they would like to buy, they can select from a choice of local fitting centres. They pay for both the tyres and fitting securely online and then pop round to a fitting station of their choice at a time to suit themselves.
When a customer checks out they are sent an email confirmation that not only contains a summary of their order but also a route map and directions together with a street-level map of the fitting centre.
Although the site has only been up and running for 6 weeks, there have already been thousands of visitors. The tyre company who hired Silkmoth to do the work are confident that their business will increase considerably. It is predicted that the simplicity of the site will encourage customers who have not traditionally got involved with car maintenance.
