Meet The Silkmoth Team

  • Keith Jones

    Keith Jones

    Managing Director

Keith graduated from Bath University, way back in 1975 when PC meant public convenience and computers were the size of tower blocks. After happening upon computer programming as something he was good at, Keith spent ten years with CAP and Ciba-Geigy, developing software and leading project teams. In 1985, he set up his first business, producing bespoke software for the likes of Kelloggs, Shell, Pfizer, Schering, ICI and Rugby Cement.

Keith founded Silkmoth Ltd in 1993 and rapidly established a wide variety of clients for its web-based applications. In his own business, and the work done with clients over many years, Keith’s guiding principle has been to always pursue the best solution for the client. Thoroughly investigating what’s needed, and ‘doing the right thing for the client’ is important to him, and in his view is fundamental to producing long-term success for Silkmoth clients.

  • Carl Dean

    Carl Dean

    Technical Director

Carl is responsible for the technical direction of the company. Following his degree in Computer Science, he honed his skills as a software engineer with some of the world’s largest software companies, including EDS, IBM, Shell, BT and Marconi.

Experience of the complexities of major projects – Carl was technical architect on the UK Attack Helicopter project and development leader on the Eurofighter and Joint Operations Command System – has been invaluable in building robust solutions for Silkmoth's clients. Carl makes sure that the technical delivery to clients is the right one for their needs and keeps abreast of the fast moving landscape that is software and t'interweb.

  • Denise Hine

    Denise Hine

    Operations Manager

Denise joined Silkmoth following a degree in Computer Science from Sheffield Hallam and she's grown through the company to now be a key part of the management team. With her technical background combined with a deep knowledge of what makes good solutions for clients, she make sure that what is delivered satisfies the customers needs on time and to budget.

Having a strong programming background and having been here for a while means that lots of the legacy stuff we still run for clients has her name on it, so there's nowhere to hide!

  • Martin Riley

    Martin Riley

    Business Development

Based in Birmingham, Martin looks after all clients south of The Potteries (and a number north of that line as well). He has vast expereince of the wholesale and distributiuon world. In that capacity he was a client of Silkmoth's for many years before going over to the dark side. He has a pragmatic, business oriented view of what the web can do for business and often asks the hard questions like "How will it make you money?".

  • Simon Cooper

    Simon Cooper

    Support Manager

Client support is a key part of Silkmoth's offering and Simon manages the support function to ensure a consistent, high quality service. Before joining Silkmoth Simon had extensive experience of not only programming but also managing development projects. This makes him the ideal candidate person to run this core function of the company. His degree in Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering demonstrates again the strong technological base of what Silkmoth is all about.

  • Lynn Jones

    Lynn Jones

    Accounts Manager

Lynn runs the office, the accounts, HR and all that good "oil in the gears" stuff that you only appreciate when it stops. Lynn has been with the company from the beginning. Her degree is Psychology and extensive experience of bookkeeping means that she not only knows where every penny is but also why money is not our main motivator.

  • Enabling our client to handle sales, logistics and credit control for a multitude of mixed orders from large numbers of smaller customers, we developed software which automated the entire process; giving big savings on time and manpower yet permitting human intervention for better customer service.

    Case study

  • Helping our client to achieve higher margin sales without human intervention, we developed software that facilitated online ordering and sales on a part number basis to small businesses and individuals who would order and pay using credit cards, expanding market opportunities and improving overall business efficiency.

    Case study

  • Enabling our client to achieve domination of the UK online tyre retail sector, we developed software which captured more website visitors to deliver more sales from more customers across more channels; providing the shortest possible customer journey whilst delivering better value from existing customers.

    Case study

  • Holland Hydroponics had an existing e-commerce website when they first approached us but they believed that their conversion rate and average order value (as well as the number of visitors to the site) could be improved. We agreed.
